Choosing an Online Business

When I first started out looking into an online business I could start up, I soon became overwhelmed with the massive amounts of information and sales pitches thrown out at me on every different page I went to. It was hard. Who do you choose to try out with first? What is it you really want to do that others could benefit from, and would want to purchase off of you? You don’t have a product yourself but you still want to sell things? What kinds of things would sell, and not have huge shipping costs? What kinds of products could you sell to reach the whole world? What? Who? Where? Why was I trying to do this again?
In the first year, I think I tried about 30 different get rich quick schemes, which resulted in my just losing my hard earned cash. The next year, I was picky. I had learned a few more things, and now knew nothing came easy. If it promised the world in a box, and all you had to do was open it and upload it and wave your magic wand, then it was a load of bull, and going to eat your money.
My mother had joined this forum for mothers who were discussing work at home jobs that were legit and mentioned to me about affiliate marketing. I was not sure what that was, so I decided to meet her for internet marketing classes. We learned that companies start affiliate programs to get as many people selling their products as possible. You choose the products you are interested in and then sell them for a commission. That sounded like something I could do. I had no more money left to invest in business opportunities myself, so this required no start up cost on my end.
I was then at a loss though as to decide what products were good and what products weren’t. I realized that the companies that offered big commission payouts, made up sales copy reports for you to use, reviews of the product by other people who loved it for you to advertise, banners, links, and any other thing to help promote the product, were the best programs to go with. It was all there for the taking, you just had to promote it on your website, blog, in forums, chat rooms, bulletin boards, classified sites, and anywhere else you could think to advertise.
There is CPC (cost-per-click) or PPC (pay-per-click) options which are costly but receive a quicker response from buyers. I didn’t want to get into those until I saw how this was going to take off. I thought the idea of it taking approximately a year before I would see any profit, was a pretty good concept. It would allow me to learn everything I could about advertising.
There are many businesses online out there to be found. Affiliate marketing is one of the markets that thousands of people get into because almost every big company out there who sells something nowadays uses an affiliate program. It is one of the cheapest ways of starting an online presence and provides you with an opportunity to learn as you go, while you are still able to make money.
There are a few downfalls to this type of business, such as you sometimes can’t submit to some sites, or will not get proper search engine indexing, due to using an affiliate id URL. But you can get around it by setting up a website with your own domain name that discusses your programs/products, and has all your affiliate URLs on that page to link to.
There is much to learn and discuss when deciding to venture into the online business world. But there is so much to be found that, every obstacle can be overcome. In the end it takes time, patience, dedication, perseverance, and faith. Don’t give up, if something doesn’t work, (ie: for marketing) try something else. There are lots of forums, and chat rooms out there with people willing to help you out. Take all the advice you can handle and try from there.
There is a business out there that is just right for you if you really do decide that the online business world is the way you would like to go.
